About Bimba Nepal
Bimba Nepal (बिम्ब नेपाल) is a media and communication consulting firm based in Kathmandu, Nepal. We work at the intersection of storytelling, strategy, and development, helping government agencies, bilateral donors, multilateral agencies, international and national NGOs, and private sector institutions communicate more effectively with the people and communities they serve.
The word bimba (बिम्ब) means image and/or reflection. It is a word that carries both artistic and philosophical weight in the Nepali language. It speaks to what we believe communication must do: not merely transmit information, but hold up a mirror to lived reality, render the invisible visible, and represent truth with care and craft. That belief is embedded in everything we do: from the documentaries we direct to the strategies we design to the research we conduct.
We are not a large agency. We are a lean, purposeful organization that works by assembling the right experts for each assignment- filmmakers, communication strategists, researchers, designers, journalists, and project managers who bring both professional excellence and deep contextual knowledge of Nepal. We do not parachute in. We are from here, we understand here, and we are committed to here.
Who We Are
Bimba Nepal was founded by communication and development practitioners who had spent years working within Nepal’s development sector- inside INGOs, UN programs, government initiatives, and media institutions- and who saw, repeatedly, the same gap: organizations doing important work that was poorly communicated, poorly documented, and poorly understood by the very people it was meant to reach.
That gap is not a small one. It shapes whether communities trust a program. It determines whether a government policy reaches its intended beneficiaries. It decides whether a decade of hard-won development gains is remembered or forgotten. Communication is not the finishing touch on good development work. It is woven into its fabric from the very beginning – and when it is done poorly, even the best programs fall short of their potential.
Bimba Nepal was built to close that gap. We bring together a curated pool of Nepal’s most experienced communication, media, and development professionals – people who have worked at the highest levels of their fields and who are united by a conviction that communication, when done with rigor and humanity, is one of the most powerful tools for social change that exists.
